Search for relatives of dead woman found in Benguet continues

Tuba, Benguet – Tuba police plan to go farther to nearby areas in Benguet such as Pangasinan, Nueva Vizcaya, Mountain Province, and Ilocos provinces in search for the relatives of a woman whose decomposing body was found in their jurisdiction last June 8.

The plan will be instituted until a time there are no claimants visiting their office, said Police Captain Jeremias Toyokan in an interview by Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation.

Authorities already went to La Union to coordinate with their counterparts but were told that there are no reported missing persons in their area.

Toyakan said a DNA sample was collected from the female corpse in case relatives come to identify and claim the remains.

The remains of the victim were buried at a cemetery in Tuba.

As recalled, the decomposing cadaver was found by residents at Sitio Tokang, Barangay Camp 3, Tuba, Benguet at 10:45 AM of June 8, 2022 while gathering wood near the area.

The female corpse was wearing a leather jacket, white shirt, and jogging pants when it was discovered.

Further, it is believed that the corpse was killed somewhere and was only thrown in the area.
