Self-inflicted accident kills backrider, injures rider in Isabela

Cabatuan, Isabela – A 33-year-old backrider died while a motorcyclist was seriously injured after involving in a self-inflicted accident in front of a mortuary in Barangay Saranay, Cabatuan, Isabela at around 2:30 a.m. on January 17, 2023.

PMaj. Arturo Cachero of Cabatuan Police Station revealed the rider and his companion were onboard a Honda Click motorcycle, heading to Ramon, Isabela when they met the tragic accident.


While on said road, the driver lost control of the motorcycle after passing through the curved part of the road.


The motorcycle slipped off the highway first before crashing into the hallway of the funeral home.


The unfortunate accident claimed the back rider’s life identified as Rolly Ortiz, married, and resident of Barangay San Sebastian, Ramon, Isabela.

Ortiz sustained head injury and was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physician.


Meanwhile, the driver named Dave Dela Cruz Catimpuyan, 28, single and resident of Barangay Daramuangan Norte of San Mateo sustained serious injury.
