Sen. Imee Marcos vows additional fund for La Trinidad’s new municipal building

La Trinidad, Benguet – Gracing the groundbreaking ceremony of the new municipal building of La Trinidad, Benguet on February 26 at the new site, Senator Maria Imelda Josefa "Imee" Marcos pledged additional funding for the completion of its construction, the Mayor’s Office said.


With her initiative, the P30 million initial fund for the establishment was released for its first phase.


The presidential sister and her family value La Trinidad municipal hall since it was where their parents former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and First Lady Imelda Marcos had their civil wedding on April 22, 1954.

Officials have long been seeking to upgrade the town hall to provide convenience among people transacting business with the different offices of the local government.


Back in 2018, Mayor Romeo Salda underscored that rehabilitation requires at least P150 million.


Meanwhile, the construction of the new building commenced following the groundbreaking.


Marcos took to social media to thank the municipal officials for the invitation she received for said event.


“Naniniwala ako na ang La Trinidad ay patuloy na uusbong at magiging progresibo dito sa Cordillera. Ikinagagalak kong makita ang kanilang pag-angat”, she stated.


She further vowed to fund “all other programs under the banner program IMEESolusyon.”

Also present during the activity were Governor Melchor Diclas, Congressman Eric Yap represented by Cheren Tacio, Assistant District Engineer Edgardo Enriquez of DPWH Benguet 1st District Engineering Office, Mayor Salda, Vice-Mayor Roderick Awingan, among other public servants.
