Sen. Marcos awards P.9M cash aid to individuals in crisis on Say-am Festival’s culmination

Luna, Apayao – Gracing the culminating program of Say-am Festival 2023, Senator Maria Imelda Josefa "Imee" Marcos led the ceremonial awarding of the P900,000 worth of assistance to individuals in a crisis situation on February 12 at the Apayao Eco-Tourism Complex (AETC) in San Gregorio, Luna.


Supposedly, 1,000 yApayaos will receive the cash assistance but was decided by the provincial government to distribute it separately. The dates of the next distributions are yet to be announced.

In said awarding, 300 yApayaos were able to receive the aid.


As the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program of the Department of Social and Welfare and Development targets, those who received were yApayaos who are indigent, vulnerable, and disadvantaged.


“Adda ak manen ditoyen tapnu mangited iti ayuda kadakayo, sabsabali laeng ti rikna nu kailyan ko mismo ti iyawidak iti tulong… Total nga 1,000 ti mabenipisyaran, P3,000 kada isa kasi alam ko ang hirap, narigat ti biyag ti mannalon, talagang ang hirap ngayon ng agrikultura kaya konting tulong hangga’t mabuo at mabayaran lahat ng ani natin hanggang Marso, Abril,” the lady senator stated.

She likewise relayed that financial assistance will also be given to farmers' associations in the province.


On the same day, the presidential sister was also given the chance to talk to 20 winners of the Department of Agriculture’s Young Farmer’s Challenge from said province.


There, she told the recipients of said program, mostly students of the Apayao State College to continue their start-up project ventures, along with a challenge to widen their market through innovations and appropriate marketing strategies.

She made the statement due to observations that in Northern Luzon, agricultural enterprises are good at producing but lack marketing strategies to be able to sell their products.


Marcos likewise told them that her office will be of help in mandating concerned offices to provide the necessary assistance needed by the young, aspiring entrepreneurs.
