Sen. Padilla provides aid to Typhoon affected families in Sta. Marcela

Sta. Marcela, Apayao - Each of the 180 typhoon Egay affected families in the municipality received P5,000 cash assistance from Sen. Robinhood 'Robin' Padilla, distributed through the office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) in collaboration with SWAD- Apayao on August 11.

Said assistance was given to alleviate the financial burden of these families.


Based on the consolidated report of the MWSDO, 101 of the 180 beneficiaries were evacuees, 61 experienced flooding, 17 encountered partially damaged houses, and 1 was left homeless.


In an interview with MSWD Officer Ignacia Aman, she informed that said affected families were identified and validated by officials of each barangay, wherein the barangay of San Carlos has the highest recorded number of families affected consisting of 79, while barangay Imelda declared only 5 families affected, hence, the lowest.


Speaking to the affected families, Aman expressed comfort to their sentiments and assured them of incessant support from the Local Government Unit of Sta. Marcela, headed by Mayor Evelyn Martinez.

"Despite the adverse impact of the recent calamity, especially the damage it caused to our sources of living, we, in the LGU will not leave you comfortless," she added.


Mayor Martinez, on the other hand, expressed appreciation for the benevolence of Senator Padilla.
