Senators, DOLE secretary expected to attend Mt. Province Day

Mt. Province, Philippines - High-ranking Malacañang officials are expected to attend the 16th Lang-ay Festival and 56th Founding Anniversary celebration of Mt. Province tomorrow, April 05, 2023, at the Eyeb Grandstand.


Mt. Province became an independent province on April 07, 1967, with the implementation of Republic Act 4695 or the Division Law, dividing the old Mt. Province into the four independent provinces of Benguet, Ifugao, Mt. Province, and the former Kalinga-Apayao.


Since April 07 happens to fall on Good Friday this year, Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr. requested for the President to give them a day through which they can rightfully commemorate their founding anniversary.

Granting the request, Malacañang Palace through Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin declared April 05, 2023, as a Special (Non-Working) Day to give the people of Mountain Province a full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.


Senators Maria Imelda Josefa Remedios "Imee" Romualdez Marcos and Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Tesoro Go, and Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Bienvenido “Benny” E. Laguesma are expected to grace the event.


Arrivals of Police Regional Office – Cordillera Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Mafelino A. Bazar, and the Guest of Honor and Speaker, Deputy Presidential Legal Counsel Joseph B. Sagandoy Jr. are also expected.

Chakchakan (Bontoc-Baguio Road), Bontoc –Kalinga Road, Samoki (Bontoc-Banaue Road), and Lanao Diversion Road (Assembly Area) will be temporarily closed to motorists from 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday for the Street Chanting and Street Dancing Parade.


In the afternoon and evening will be the conduct of indigenous games and the Gangsa Night.


The celebration started with a civic parade and ceremonial opening of the agro-industrial fair on March 27.


“Umali kayo am-in ta maki-Lang-Ay Taku,” invited the provincial government.
