Shabu hidden in ground Mongo discovered at van terminal in Tabuk City

Tabuk City, Kalinga – More than a hundred thousand worth of suspected shabu which was supposed to be delivered through a public utility vehicle was confiscated by the police at a van terminal in Purok 3, Bulanao Norte.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Dinulong Tombali, Tabuk City Chief of Police, narrated in an interview that their office was monitoring an alleged transport of illegal drugs through a PUV after they received information about a drug peddling activity.

Tombali added that at around 7:00 in the evening on the said date, they responded to a call from a van terminal in Purok 3 about a suspicious item.

Tombali said that the driver called the attention of their dispatcher after doubting the content of an echo bag since the sender was calling him, instructing him to wait for their call.

With the presence of the dispatcher, the media, barangay officials, and the Department of Justice, the bag was opened, and it was then they discovered a big heat-sealed sachet containing a substance believed to be shabu placed inside the bag along with ground mongo.

The suspected drug item was estimated to be 15 grams and worth P102,000.

The police are currently investigating the identity of the sender of the item. The alleged Shabu was brought to the Kalinga Crime Laboratory Office for examination.

Meantime, the Tabuk Chief of Police said that they are closely working with the transport groups to prevent any possible shipment of illegal drugs, adding they asked for their assistance to immediately inform the police should any suspicious item is to be delivered.

Further, he relayed that checkpoints in the city have been intensified with the instruction of Kalinga Police Provincial Director, Police Colonel Peter Tagtag Jr. to intercept the transport of illegal drugs.
