Slain NPA leader’s wife found killed in same encounter in Balbalan

Balbalan, Kalinga – Wife of slain rebel Rudy Daguitan, alias "Pinpin", was also found killed during the March 15 military and communist insurgents encounter in Sitio Babacong, Barangay Gawa-an.

According to 5th Infantry Division, residents of said place informed the government troops that Nora Miguel, alias "Gemay", wife of Daguitan and the Medical Officer of KLG Baggas, was also killed during the event.

Daguitan, on the other hand, is the Political Officer or Political Instructor of Komiteng Larangang Guerilla Baggas.

With the help of residents, Miguel’s abandoned body was recovered by the authorities in Sitio Fukong, Barangay Gawa-an. After the retrieval of her body, she was given a decent burial.

5ID Commander MGen. Laurence Mina with this incident is calling to the remaining rebels to lay down their arms and get back to the mainstream society, as he cited both incidents a manifestation of disrespect and total disregard of their comrades.

“Ikinalulungkot ko ang sinapit ng mag-asawang lider ng CPP-NPA. Sila ay inabandona ng tinatawag nilang “kasama” ng sila ay masawi sa engkwentro. Muli tayong nananawagan sa mga natitira pang mga miyembro ng teroristang CPP-NPA na bumaba na at sumuko, bago sapitin ang dinanas ng mag-asawang kadre,” he said in their press release.
