SLU Baguio students and staff get a three-day academic break

Baguio City, Philippines – The students and staff of Saint Louis University are going to have their much-awaited academic break this coming November 15-17, 2021.

Based on the university’s November 9 advisory, all levels except students who are having their internship or clinical duty are included in the 3-day ‘Academic staff and students' wellness break’.

During the break, there should be no synchronous and asynchronous activities; no submission of academic requirements; and no posting of instructional materials and activities in the Google Classroom or course group chats.

“Faculty and students shall take the opportunity to fully detach from school-related activities including meetings, faculty and student consultations, and other co-and extra-curricular undertakings,” the advisory further stated.

The university added that the faculty and students should take this time to have a good break; to be healthy, rest, and eat well; to reflect; to enjoy their hobbies; allot quality time with families and friends; and to know their strengths, limits, and responsibilities.

It could be recalled that the students in Baguio wrote a letter to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Rep. Mark Go, and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Levy Lloyd Orcales, appealing for a city-wide academic break.

In response, the said officials convened with the different school heads, student councils, and the Commission on Higher Education- Cordillera last week where then they agreed to give the various higher education institutions two weeks to schedule the academic break in their schools.
