SLU’s free water refilling station commended for helping preserve environment

Baguio City, Philippines – Not only does Saint Louis University provide free potable water to its students but it also contributes to environmental preservation.

This is how the Baguio City Council describes SLU’s latest initiative for its learners, which is the establishment of a free water refilling station inside the university in late 2023.

SLU earlier informed that the institution collaborated with KBWorld Trading Corp. for the project to provide students, staff, and guests not just water, but clean and potable water on campus for free.

Through Resolution 14-2024, Councilor Leandro Yangot Jr, as reported by the Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Baguio, noted that the water refilling station initiative of SLU is ‘worthy of praise and emulation’, saying it aligns with ecological preservation and the global effort to fight climate change.

“This project will encourage students and even employees to bring their tumblers and refill water at the established refilling station instead of buying water in a plastic bottle, thus minimizing carbon footprints and helping save planet Earth,” the councilor elaborated in the resolution.

Copies of Resolution 14-2024 shall be furnished to the SLU administration for information, guidance, and reference.
