Software engineer from Cagayan to play Maria Clara in Noli Me Tangere Musical

Cagayan, Philippines – Mestiza heroin Maria Clara will be given life on stage through the voice and talent of a software engineer from the Province of Cagayan.

Lovely Casauay, 25, a native of Camalaniugan, will be playing Maria Clara across the country in the ‘Noli Me Tangere: The Musical’.

Said production will be touring around the Philippines starting Oct. 23, 2023, under the A-Team Creatives Multimedia Productions.

Casauay who finished a degree in Computer Science at the University of the Philippines Diliman and graduated Cum Laude doesn’t have a background in theater.

Currently, she is a Senior Software Engineer at an international company, according to Cagayan Provincial Information Office.

What ignited a passion for musical plays in her was the Broadway production of Miss Saigon which she watched in college. This enthusiasm pushed her to auditioning for the musical adaptation of Noli Me Tangere, Jose Rizal’s most influential and celebrated novel.

Her fervor and talent in singing and dancing got her her first role which also happened to be one of the lead characters.

While she pursues her dream of performing in theater plays, she still plans to continue her career in software engineering.
