Soldiers find high-powered firearms, ammunitions in Balbalan, Kalinga


Balbalan, Kalinga – An Arms cache believed to have belonged to the Communist Terrorist Group were recovered in Sitio Dau, Balbalan Proper on Monday morning, February 5.

 

The 103rd Infantry Battalion revealed that focused military operations were carried out on said day based on a tip from the community.

 

Weapons found by government troops sent for the operation include long firearms described as an M14 rifle and an M1 Garand with two magazines, two clip assemblies, and live ammunition for Cal 7.62mm and Cal .30.


These war materials, as stated by the army, could have belonged to the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya Baggas, Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee.

 

Not only did the authorities find an arms cache in the focused operation, but they also discovered a CTG encampment in the area which could possibly have been occupied for nine months before it was found by the authorities.

 

“The Philippine Army will continuously conduct this kind of operation to end the insurgency in the Cordillera Region and all the neighboring regions around the country that are being infested by the manipulative Armed Communist Terrorist Group,” said the 103rd Infantry Battalion.
