Son of Natonin, Mt. Province now a Police Major General

Mt. Province, Philippines - Among the new holders of the third highest rank in the Philippine National Police, the ‘Police Major General’, is an Igorot cop who was once the police provincial director of Ifugao. 

 

Formerly Brigadier General Constancio Chinayog Jr., from Natonin, Mt. Province, is among three PNP senior officers who got promoted to higher ranks on February 13, 2025, at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City. Chinayog was officially donned with the ‘Police Major General’ rank during the event.

 

Chinayog, who serves as the Director for Personnel and Records Management of the PNP Headquarters, plays a key role in overseeing the career development and records of PNP personnel. His exceptional work in the office contributed to his promotion to two-star rank general.

 

Before his promotion, Chinayog also held several key positions in the PNP such as the President of the Asian Forensic Sciences Network (AFSN), Director of the PNP Forensic Group (FG), Deputy Director of the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM), and Director of the Ifugao Police Provincial Office.

 

The other cop who was promoted to the same rank was former Director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Nicolas Torre III.

 

Meantime, Former Acting Deputy Chief for Administration Jose Melencio Nartatez was promoted to Police Lieutenant General, the PNP second highest rank.

 

The oath-taking and donning of ranks ceremony for said senior officers was presided over by PNP Chief, PGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.

 

The PNP, in a press release, said the promotion of Nartatez, Chinayog, and Torre was done ‘in recognition of their exemplary service and dedication to the organization’.
