SP Kalinga to pass resolution to audit KAELCO and address allegations of corruption

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan members of Kalinga agreed to make a resolution seeking to audit the collection and utilization of funds of the Kalinga Electric Cooperative, Inc. (KAELCO) to clarify if there has been corruption inside the cooperative.

During the final energy summit held at Sangguniang Panlalawigan Hall on November 8, 2022, Placido Alsiyang asked the Sangguniang Panlalawigan august body to pass a resolution to audit the cooperative to address the issues spreading in social media on alleged corruption in KAELCO.

The allegations remain hearsay unless an investigation is done, which could help put an end to the controversy.

“To the Sangguniang Panlalawigan august body, pangaasi yu man ta agaramid kayo ti resolution nga audit-en tayo man ti KAELCO nu agpayso man ti maiface-facebook nga adu ti maluslustay nga kwarta ti KAELCO,” said Alsiyang.

The august body responded to the request positively, and thus agreed to pass a resolution for the auditing of KAELCO.

Board Member Shirlynne Dasayon, during the summit, said she believes that everyone has the privilege of scanning the book of KAELCO.

“Should there be any allegations of corruption or if there’s a doubt whether or another is an issue of corruption or we just want to verify the books of the cooperative… Just like in the other juridical entity, the book I believed of the KAELCO is open to everybody,” she said.

Vice Governor Jocel Baac explained the purpose of the resolution is to strengthen the confidence of the electric consumers as well as to clarify the allegations against KAELCO regarding the management of its finances.
