Sta. Marcela, Apayao joins PBBM’s National Tree Planting campaign


Santa Marcela, Apayao- A total of 170 trees comprised of 50 pieces of Batanes trees and 120 Molave trees were planted at the Bacut Lake in Sta. Marcela by the LGU's officials and employees on Wednesday, Sept. 13 in celebration of the 65th birthday of His Excellency President Ferdinand E. Marcos.


Bacut Lake is a famous tourist destination in Santa Marcela and is perfect for weddings, seminars, camping, and athletic events.


To recall, Pres. BBM, in his keynote speech on the kick-off ceremony of the National Tree Planting held in Region 4, said planting trees would make his birthday more meaningful.

Marcos Jr. emphasized that humans have only one Earth, and it deserves to be taken good care of.


Acknowledging the Importance of protecting the environment, the Mayor of the town, Evelyn Martinez, led the impactful undertaking which aims to greatly help raise awareness of environmental welfare and protection among her constituents.


The participants which composed the Local government officials, heads of Departments, and personnel of National line Agencies in the LGU united for such activity accomplishing a remarkable number of trees planted at the planting site.


Additionally, the Municipal Environment and National Resources Office (MENRO) favored the activity as it would be helpful in the implementation of the DENR's Enhanced National Greening Program (ENGP), the country's most ambitious reforestation project, with the goal of reducing poverty, ensuring food security, environmental stability, conserving biodiversity and mitigating climate change, and adapting to climate change.
