Sta. Marcela, Apayao showered with thanks for embracing yKalinga athletes with open arms

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga delegates in the 2024 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet have surely had a blast in their weeklong stay in Santa Marcela, Apayao.

Last April 12, the Kalinga provincial government sent off 392 athletes along with their respective coaches to play for the province in the 2024 CARAA in Apayao from April 14 – 19.

Arriving in Apayao, the Kalinga delegation proceeded to Santa Marcela, particularly at the Santa Marcela National High School, Santa Marcela West Central School, and Imelda Elementary School, where they were set to be housed.

Before the games officially started, the Santa Marcela Local Government Unit headed by Mayor Evelyn Martinez hosted a welcome program for the delegation at the EKB Municipal Gymnasium.

Mayor Martinez, together with Vice Mayor Rolly Guiang, the Sangguniang Bayan members, and the chiefs of offices, warmly received the yKalingas through a program which included food, performances, and dancing.

The hospitality and warmth shown by Santa Marcela did not remain unnoticed by the Kalinga people, and to convey the province’s gratitude, the Kalinga PLGU will be giving a plaque of recognition and token of appreciation to Santa Marcela LGU.

Said gesture was initiated by Governor James Edduba, who is grateful for the warm welcome and care extended to the yKalingas during their stay in Apayao.
