Sta. Marcela, Apayao suffered P5.2M damages due to Typhoon Goring

Santa Marcela, Apayao- In its latest situational report today, August 30, 2023, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRM) said consolidated reports showed Typhoon Goring destroyed over P5,247,440M agricultural crops and infrastructure in the municipality.

Of the total amount reported, the damage it brought to infrastructure was worth P450,000 while about P4,797,440 in agricultural crops was lost.

Along with the damages, the LGU logged incudent of floodings where 3 families Barangay Malekkeg were affected.

The office, however, reported no evacuees in spite of the onslaught of Typhoon Goring.

So far, there was no record of casualties and missing persons amidst the typhoon.

LDRRMO officer Rodel Ballinan,on the other hand expressed his appreciation for the compliance of residents with the directives of the office, during the recent calamity.

The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) likewise has already provided relief supplies to the affected families.

As Tropical Storm Hanna entered into the Philippine area of responsibility(PAR) today, LDRMM Ballinan further reminds everyone to stay informed of updates and warns them to safeguard themselves, by participating in preemptive measures, especially those in high -risk areas of the municipality prone to flooding, to mitigate imminent effects.

According to PAGASA, Tropical Storm Hannah was monitored 1,669 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon moving northwestward, bringing occasional rains in the municipality, and may intensify into the typhoon category.
