Sta. Marcela LGU employee conferred National PhALGA award

Sta. Marcela, Apayao – Municipal Accountant Sheridan D. Castillo of Sta. Marcela, Apayao is one of the three yApayao who were given the prestigious Philippine Association of Local Government Accountant (PhALGA) award on May 29, 2023.

Mayor Evelyn Martinez congratulates Castillo for the achievement saying she is happy with the recognition the municipal accountant received.

“Ito ay patunay na kahit dito sa Sta. Marcela eron tayong mga mabubuti at masisipag na government workers. We need to provide excellent service para sa taumbayan and I hope na dadami pa ang katulad ni Accountant Castillo,” said Mayor Martinez.

Castillo, along with Provincial Accountant Sherwin S. Agudeloand Calanasan Municipal Accountant Ms. Marvee P. Lawat-Dasilag, was conferred the PhALGA Excellence Award for her outstanding performance in the administration of accounting policies, rules, and regulations adhering to the National Government Accounting System (NGAS).

Said Excellence Award is bestowed by the PhALGA to exemplar Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) as a recognition for their achievement having received the highest Commission on Audit (COA) Audit Opinion.

In a report by PIO-Apayao, Castillo was quoted telling about the importance of her job relating that "through this I can help my municipality on good governance especially in matters of financial management."

The accountant also highlighted needed positive qualities of public accountants to ensure efficient management of funds telling that being a steward in one work, maintaining good relationship, mentoring coaching the staff, and attending seminars for personal growth and professional development are all necessary to be a better and more efficient worker.

Sta. Marcela is a growing municipality in the province of Apayao which has seen growing progress in recent years with the opening up of businesses and production of agricultural crops as well as other local business industries.
