Sta. Marcela works with Apayao PVO against spread of rabies

Sta. Marcela, Apayao - Dogs and cats in Sta. Marcela got their needed protection against rabies through a four-day medical mission launched by the Provincial Veterinary Office in collaboration with the Municipal Agricultural Office (MOA) of Sta. Marcela LGU.


The medical mission ran from May 16-19 that aimed at providing free services for anti-rabies vaccination, consultation, deworming, and vitamins and mineral supplementation to the animals in the said town.

“We are thankful to the help provided by the Apayao PLGU thru the veterinary office. Dakkel nga tulong daytoy para kadagiti taga Sta. Marcela. We also would like to thank Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. and Congresswoman Leah Bulut-Begtang kadagiti suporta da para ti animal welfare,” said Mayor Evelyn Martinez.


Martinez added that the medical mission will reduce fear of the dreaded rabies at the same time raise awareness of animal and pet owners on the necessity of animal health.


The Apayao PVO and the Sta. Marcela MOA went to barangays Imelda, Marcela, San Juan, and San Antonio, visiting 248 households and servicing 627 pets and livestock.

Other barangays of Sta. Marcela will soon be visited.


In a report by the Provincial Information Office, it said that Gov. Bulut Jr. and Cong. Leah Begtang have strengthened animal services offering them directly to communities with the hope to create a positive impact and foster a culture of responsible pet ownership.


Gov. Bulut Jr. has been at the forefront of encouraging farmers and livestock owners to venture into animal production through improved practices and producing better breeds of animals.
