Street dancers of Rizal to represent Kalinga in Baguio’s Panagbenga Street Dancing Competition

Tabuk City, Kalinga -  In anticipation of illuminating the city’s famous streets with stunning displays of culture and talent from throughout the Cordillera, Baguio City is gearing up to host the prestigious Panagbenga Festival’s Street Dancing Competition on February 24.

The competition offers an open category, accommodating entries from diverse participants.

Among the entries is Tribu Rizal, representing the province of Kalinga in the upcoming event.

Last year, Tribu Rizal dazzled audiences at the Panagbenga Festival’s Street Dance Competition, securing an impressive second place and igniting a wave of pride throughout Kalinga Province.

To recall, Tribu Rizal, consisting of 135 talented students from Rizal National School of Arts and Trades, clinched the first runner-up title in the recently concluded Street Dance Competition 2024, a highlight of the festivities marking the 29th Kalinga Founding Anniversary and 5th Bodong Festival on February 13.

During the event, eight educational institutions representing the respective towns and cities of Kalinga battled from the rotary marker in front of Davidson Hotel to St. William’s Cathedral, culminating in an intense final showdown at the Kalinga Sports Center.

The Bodong Street Dancing Competition artfully brought to life the essence of the festival’s theme, “Lumin-awa Kalinga”, as each participating group creatively displayed their cultural heritage, values, and local landmarks through vibrant costumes, handcrafted props, and unwavering pride in their community.

Regarding the results, the Municipality of Balbalan emerged victorious, closely followed by the Municipality of Rizal, with the City of Tabuk placing third.

Unfortunately, Balbalan missed the submission deadline for entry into the Panagbenga Festival Street Dancing Competition.
