Tabuk City, Kalinga – St. Theresita’s School of Balbalan once again dominated the Drum and Lyre Competition – Secondary Category this February 2023, marking their 7th win in the competition.

Drum and Lyre competition is one of the much-awaited events for elementary and secondary schools in Kalinga during the Bodong Festival. After a 3-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, said competition was pushed through this year.

The STS Balbalan is not new at winning in the competition as they were the champion in 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2018.

On February 14, STS Balbalan came prepared and wowed the audience once again with their creativity and synchronized movement.

With a total score of 96%, STS Balbalan was declared the champion. They received a P50,000 cash prize.

On its Facebook page, the school expressed its gratitude to all the people behind their success in the competition, particularly the trainers who worked tirelessly to conceptualize and produce a spectacular performance.

The school also thanked the Municipal Local Government Unit of Balbalan headed by Mayor Almar Malannag for their unending support.

‘STS Balbalan a must-watch entry’

Mayor Malannag, on his FB page, congratulated STS Balbalan and commended them for working harder to get this year’s trophy.

“Through the years, we yBalbalan always believe that STS Balbalan is really a must-watch entry when it comes to drum and lyre competitions,” he conveyed.

Meantime, this year's first runner up for the Drum and Lyre competition - Secondary is Cudal National High School, followed by Saint Michael's Academy, and Tabuk City National High School.
