Student dies in motorcycle collision along Abra-Kalinga road

Abra, Philippines – A student died after a road accident along Abra-Kalinga road at Sitio Nagsayangan, Barangay Tagodtod, Lagangilang, Abra on Monday evening, September 19, 2022.

The victim was identified by the police as a certain Robin Batoon.

Chief of Lagangilang Municipal Police Station, PLT Boyd Lesson Kis-ing through Abra TV relayed that the victim and Osmin Batoon were riding a motorcycle driven by Roldan Toralba and were traversing Abra - Kalinga road when the incident happened.

Accordingly, the rider attempted to overtake a “kulong-kulong” but another motorcycle was approaching from the other lane. This resulted in the collision.

“Late na nga nakita nga adda ti paumay su ti naawanan da ti control… so approximately diay naiparsiakan diay nabangga da nga naka-motor, more or less 20 meters pero according idiay maysa, very thankful suna kasi nakasuot siya ng helmet,” stated the municipal police chief.

Robin sustained severe injuries to his head which led to his sudden death.

The other victims are undergoing medication.

The public is reminded to always practice precautionary measures to avoid such accidents.

“Always na safety first. Huwag tayong magpatakbo ng masyadong mabilis. Always wear your helmet kung nagmomotor tayo… tapos isa pa, always na alert tayo pag nagmamaneho tayo… Kung tayo’y mago-overtake, tingnan muna natin kung clear yung daan saka tayo mag-overtake,” the officer reiterated.
