Super Typhoon Egay displaces 375 individuals in Apayao

Luna, Apayao - At least 102 families or 375 people in Apayao were evacuated due to the threat of Super Typhoon Egay.


Said evacuees came from 4 municipalities in the province - Luna, Pudtol, Conner, and Calanasan.

In a report by the provincial government of Apayao, Calanasan listed the most number of evacuees with 35 families or 131 individuals.


This is followed by Luna - 27 families or 106 individuals, Conner - 23 families or 78 individuals, and Pudtol - 17 families or 60 individuals.


Accordingly, those who were evacuated in Luna also include those 39 individuals from Calanasan and Kabugao who were stranded in the area, having attended the provincial celebration of the National Disaster Risk Resilience Month.


At present, said families are now situated in 12 evacuation centers in various areas in the province.

Assistance amounting to P147,079 were already distributed to affected families.


These include food packs, hygiene kits, sleeping kits, and family kits, among others.


Meantime, 2 houses in San Isidro Sur, Luna were reported partially damaged.


Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr., in a statement, urged the public to exercise caution and be alert during this time of uncertainty.


Concerned government offices were already directed by the governor to provide quick responses to those in need and make sure that no life shall be lost.
