‘Support to agricultural sector should be prioritized’ - Atty. Wacnang

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The highest-ranking Sanggunian Panlungsod member of Tabuk City, Atty. Zorayda Mia Wacnang, who is also vying for the City Vice-Mayor’s seat, stressed that the local government should appropriate more budget to support the agricultural sector.


Wacnang relayed her message in a radio program aired on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

In said segment, the host asked the vice-mayoral candidate on what programs should be implemented for the agriculture sector, so as not to lose hope especially with the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors.


In response, Wacnang said that farmers would only give up when they do not feel the support of the government thus, it is a must that the sector be prioritized. This is also vital for the city if it want to achieve its vision as a progressive agro-industrial area in the region.

“Maupay ti tao nu awan ti makita da a support coming from the government. Even though agsasarunu ti bagyo wennu, even though agsasarunu ti peste dita, nu makita da a kasla strong ti suporta ti gobyerno ti agricultural sector, i-prioritize da ti agricultural sector, haan da a maupay,” explained the Acting Vice-Mayor.

According to Wacnang, there is a need to protect the farmers to back the community, who are part of the agricultural sector and to ensure food security.


Among the proposals of the aspirant is to aid farmers is the establishment of Trading Post like the center in La Trinidad, but needs data for smooth implementation.
