Suspect in Isabela hit-and-run that killed student turns self in

Isabela, Philippines – The suspect in a hit-and-run crash that killed a college student in Isabela has turned himself in on Monday, August 14, 2023.

The accused whose identity was withheld by authorities was driving a white Toyota Fortuner when the fatal incident happened at around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The 19-year-old victim named Sandara Bareng, a college student, and a resident of Barangay Sillawit, Cauayan City, was then riding Yamaha Mio Soul. She took a left turn along the road within the village when the Toyota Fortuner suddenly hit her.

The suspect who surrendered himself after days claims he did not intentionally hit the victim and was overwhelmed by such incident.

Cauayan police said the accused is a bank manager. He is set to face crime of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
