Suspect in shooting MedTech student in Tuguegarao freed on bail

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The suspect who was surrendered by his father in connection to the shooting of a Medical Technology student at a university in Tuguegarao has been released on bail.

Kristian Rafael Ramos, the suspect, was granted temporary liberty on Wednesday, November 15.

This is by virtue of the release order issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 5 in Tuguegarao City through Executive Judge Jezarene Aquino.

Accordingly, Ramos posted a bail amounting to P236,000 for his temporary freedom after he was filed charges for frustrated murder and violation of Batas Pambansa 881 or the Omnibus Election Code.

To recall, the suspect allegedly assaulted Althea Vivien Mendoza who is from Ilagan City, Isabela before shooting her in the neck at the parking lot of Saint Paul University.

Based on the investigation, the suspect had been courting the victim, but the latter rejected him, which might have caused the suspect to commit the crime.

The victim is currently undergoing medical treatment at the Cagayan United Medical Center.
