Suspect in Tabuk City shooting killing 1, injuring another now in police custody


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Suspect for the shooting incident in Purok 6, Bulanao on Monday night, February 15 is now under the custody of the police.


Denmark Baddongon, 33 and member of the Philippine Army was turned over by the 503rd Infantry Brigade to the Philippine National Police on February 16. He is now under the custody of Tabuk City Police Station.


In an initial investigation, the suspect was seen with a firearm when he arrived at the place of incident, says Kalinga Police Provincial Director PCol. Davy Vicente Limmong.

Baddongon who was allegedly drunk was collecting P2,000 from the victim Denver Tubban then eventually fired his gun on the ground several times. The two had a heated argument and when Tubban was about to close their gate, it was then Baddongon shot him eight times.


Limmong added that when Jenner Ewad came to help Tubban, he was shot next.


Responding police personnel rushed the victims to the hospital, however, Tubban who sustained a shot on the neck, 3 shots on the chest, a shot on his left arm and lower back, and 2 shots on his upper back did not make it.

Ewad, on the other hand, sustained a gunshot wound on his left buttocks and a shot perforating through his chest and exited on his armpit. He is now in a stable condition.


Meantime, the Kalinga Police Provincial Director said that investigation is still ongoing and that they are still establishing the cause of the incident and what is this P2,000 the suspect is collecting from the first victim. Additionally, they are still looking into the possibility if it is related to gambling.


Case is now being prepared against the suspect.
