Suspected Shabu found floating in Aparri waters; last time in Sanchez Mira

Aparri, Cagayan – Two days after the discovery of a shabu packed in plastic on the shoreline of Sanchez Mira, a substance of similar kind was found by a fisherman in the waters off Fuga Island, Aparri, according to police.

In a report by the Cagayan Police Provincial Office, the fisherman who is a resident of Calayan found the contraband floating around 3 a.m. of July 31, 2024, in said area.

He immediately retrieved the contraband as he thought the item could be shabu as he has knowledge of the discovery of an illegal substance in Sanchez Mira in the past few days.

He later opened the plastic upon reaching the seaside and based on its appearance, he was convinced it could be shabu. He then surrendered said item to the Police Tactical Unit (PTU) in Camiguin Island, Calayan.

The contraband weighs more or less 1 kilogram. If it is positively determined to be shabu, the item’s market value will be around P6 million.

The item is yet to be forwarded to the Regional forensic Unit of the Police Regional Office for appropriate examination.

With said incident, Cagayan police renewed their call for the public, especially those living along the coastline, to report to them if they happen to encounter similar discovery.
