Lagawe, Ifugao - Authorities found four transparent sachets of suspected shabu in an unclaimed parcel at Ohayami bus terminal located in Barangay Poblacion East in Lagawe, Ifugao on November 5, 2022.

Lagawe Municipal Police Station (MPS) said they received a report from a confidential informant saying that a parcel containing suspected shabu was transported from Sampaloc Manila through the Ohayami Bus.

The said bus left on October 31 and arrived in Lagawe’s Ohayami terminal morning of November 1, 2022.

Lagawe MPS personnel conducted surveillance at the said terminal and discovered a package that was unclaimed.

On November 4, the management of the bus station sent a letter to Lagawe MPS informing them the suspicious package was not yet claimed for four days.

Lagawe MPS together with the Provincial EOD and Canine Unit (PECU) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted an immediate operation to check the package.

During the operation, the authorities discovered 4 transparent sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 13.5 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P162,000. Said package also contains 5 Yakisoba cup noodles, 10 sachets of energen, 14 sachets milo, 1 pack of pancit canton and 2 bags of buttercream crackers.

Markings and inventory of the confiscated pieces of evidence were carried out on-site and witnessed by Punong Barangay Alfonso Dominong of Poblacion East, a media representative, and the manager of Oyahami Bus Transport.

Confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of the police station for documentation. The items were later transferred to Provincial Forensic Unit Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, for examination and confirmatory testing.

Meanwhile, authorities are currently conducting an investigation to find the individual whose name was written in the unclaimed package and apprehend those responsible for the illegal transport of the prohibited drugs.
