Tabuk City catches up with road clearing deadline


Tabuk City, Kalinga –The City Local Government Unit (CLGU) of Tabuk has continued its road clearing operations (RCO 2.0) with the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) directive to remove all road obstruction considered as hazardous to motorists and pedestrians until January 15.


The clearing were concentrated in the main thoroughfares and major roads of the city and is being done with the help of the City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO), City Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), City Legal Office, City Risk Reduction and Management Council, CLGU Motorpool and the army.

City Legal Officer Attorney Arthur Kub-ao informed that the operation is enjoined with groups under an executive order issued by Provincial Governor Ferdinand Tubban.


The RCO 2.0 shall go on throughout the year even after the assessment on January 16, 2021.

During the implementation, he admitted that there were some problems that arose, however he reiterated that LGUs are just following orders and directives from the national.

“Adu a ti naging problema although ti operation ket nu mapan kami ag-demolish, we give a letter together with the order, we are (just) following the order,” he reiterated.

In yesterday’s operation, some building owners asked for and granted a three-day leeway to remove their structures connected to their buildings that encroached on the road right of way.


Road obstructions such as signages, illegal parking lots including parked vehicles, small vendor structure, posts, privately made islands and all structures considered as road obstruction located or found within 30 meters each road side from the center line of the national road are to be removed.


“From the center line of the national road, 30 meters both sides. From St. Williams all the way to Barangay Balong, from Rotonda and Block 3 Purok 5 towards purok uno. Lateral roads like Bulanao Norte and Centro, 10 meters both in between,” explained the team.


Kub-ao added that the operation does not include trees. “Pwera kaykayo, we do not touch even a single leaf,” he said.
