14-yr.-old driver accidentally kills Tabuk LGU employee in road crash


Tabuk City, Kalinga – A 55-year-old government employee of Tabuk passed away after his motorcycle was hit by a minor driver along the Provincial Road in Barangay San Juan Thursday afternoon, January 19, 2023.

The man was identified as Ruben Bannas of Purok 6, Bulanao.


Police investigation showed that Bannas was heading towards Barangay Bulanao on his Euro 125 motorcycle at around 5:00 p.m., Kalinga Police Information Officer, PCapt. Ruff Manganip relayed.


However, when he reached San Juan, a Toyota Innova car driven by a 14-year-old student allegedly hit the victim’s motorcycle from behind.

The impact of collision sent the motorcycle down the pavement, skidding at least 30 meters from the point of impact.


The 14-year-old executed a U-turn and fled towards the direction of Dagupan while Bannas was attended to by the responding personnel of the Department of Health - Human Resources for Health Kalinga and the Tabuk City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.


Unfortunately, the 55-year-old man was declared dead on arrival at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital.


The Innova driver, on the other hand, was turned over by his parents to the Tabuk City Police Station.
