Tabuk City fighters dominate Northern Luzon Kickboxing Championships

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Team Tribu Banwar, a group of young martial artists from Tabuk City, added further evidence that the Province of Kalinga houses strong fighters after dominating this year’s Northern Luzon Kickboxing Championships.

 

The event, which served as the qualifying avenue for the 2025 National Kickboxing Championship, was held at the Kalinga Astrodome in Bulanao, Tabuk City from April 21 to 24, 2025. It was participated in by 181 athletes from regions I, II, and Cordillera.

 

Team Tribu Banwar, in the four-day activity, displayed their grit, strength, and sportsmanship, earning them the champion title after hauling a total of 10 gold, 7 silver, and 6 bronze medals. They also received three special awards, which include Coach Erwin Tagure being the Best Coach, Froilan Saking as the Best Junior Kickboxer, and Jace Gayol as the Best Youngest Kickboxer.

 

The gold medalists include Alexandra Cosagon, Shaekspeare Bacacao, Froilan Saking, Maximo Saking, Jace Gayol, Prince Erwin Tagure, Tristan Matalang, and Vira leigh Balagso. The silver medalists, on the other hand, were Jessie James Olatic, Cole John, Jian Palicas, Diane Palicas, Jhanaigh Matalang, Levy Tiwang, Jacob Gayol, and Gweneth Agustin.

 

The athletes who got bronze include Jacen Taclawan, Jeffrey Gumad-ang, Kyle Gallema, Trixie Wanas, Piolo Chad Pascual, Ralph Liwaliw, Aldwin Bang as, Neiji Badz, Neri Medina, and Jaizer Gayol.

 

When asked about their preparation for the Northern Luzon Kickboxing Championships, Coach Tagure said they only had a month to ready for the competition since the kids’ attention was divided as they had to condition themselves for other competitions like jiu-jitsu and K1 in the past months. Nevertheless, Tagure is delighted by the feat of the young fighters under him.
