Tabuk City health workers' request for a holiday break, denied

Updated: Dec 17, 2020

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The request of Medical health workers of Tabuk City designated at the frontline for a Christmas break was denied by the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF), according to DILG Provincial Director Max Adong.

“Sigun a dijay panag-istorya tayo kenni RD (Regional Director) when he came over last last week ket there is inconsistency with the national policy so kunana ket haan nga mai-concur. So they will not concur dijay request tayo, so we have to prepare our contingency plan, ag-plan B tayo,” explained Adong during today’s regual PIATF meeting.

Recently, Tabuk CIATF members was reported to have agreed to the frontliners’ proposal to conduct RTCPR testing on the 21st this month and shall resume on the 27th and 28th right after Christmas day.

This is what could happen if they were allowed to take a three-day break from December 24-26, 2020.

In the plan, Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) are to be advised to schedule their travel wisely since those arriving on December 22 to 26 shall be quarantined but not be swabbed as there will be no available swabbers during the said days.

Arriving LSIs or ROFs will have to wait until the 27th for their swab test unless they be tested by a private hospital.

Since the proposal was rejected, City Health Officer Henrietta Bagayao informed that the CIATF shall then be implementing their alternative plan to regulate incoming repatriates.

Bagayao requested the LSI/ROF Tabukeños to schedule their arrival until December 21 since the date falls on a Monday which is the regular schedule for the city’s swab testing.

Results for swab tests on the 21st will turn up either on December 23 or early morning of December 24.

If results turn out negative, repatriates may be sent to continue their 14-day quarantine at their homes or they shall be isolated at the city’s Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF) if results turn out otherwise.

“So our TTMF will still be (operating) 24/7, we have already prepared the schedule for it for our asymptomatic covid-19 cases. But for symptomatic, KPH referral,” said Bagayao.

Other schedules for swab tests are Wednesdays and Fridays.

What happens to those who shall arrive on December 22-23, 2020?

LSIs/ROFs arriving on the 22nd and the 23rd will be swabbed; however, they must strictly spend quarantine at the Agbannawag Quarantine Facility on Christmas Day since they have to wait for their swab results which will be arriving on the December 25 or 26.

“They cannot go directly to their homes, ag-Christmas da ijay quarantine facility. They must think twice in arriving on the 22 or 23,” she explained.

The same process shall be followed for the coming New Year’s Day.

The CHO shall be coordinating with the PHO and PNP to assist them in triaging and swabbing individuals arriving on the 25th and on January 01 which are regular holidays.

Skeleton force are to be in placed in anticipation of the influx of repatriates during the holidays.
