Amboy Marnag, a homeless person believed to have some mental problem, recently surprised the netizens with his transformation, showing what he looks like when he is finally in good hands and is taken care of.

Nobody really knows who he is as he appeared to be mute and uttered no words.

Amboy who is called by the locals as Atras-Abante has been on the streets of Tabuk City, specifically in Dagupan, for years. According to the people, they have seen him roaming the streets since 2008 and have no idea who he really is and where came from, and how he came to this state.

Some mentally ill people, like in other areas, can be left alone on the streets to fend for themselves and be at the mercy of God knows who.

Being on the streets for years had stricken Amboy with various horrible appearance and odorous smell. His hair grew long and severely matted, and his pants almost worn out with too little left. He used sack, draped it over his shoulder to keep warm.

This man is known for not accepting any foods from the people; rather, he prefers leftovers. He was normally seen with plastic bags on both hands containing various foods he collected.

So how did this transformation happen?

One day, a citizen named Benny Mangadap, the one who also posted the transformation of Amboy, started a #PukisChallenge. She posted this on Kalinga group, challenging individuals saying whoever can give him a bath, dress him, and give him a haircut will be rewarded with P5,000.

Benny narrated, in an interview, that every time she came across with Amboy, she felt pity and pain in her heart. Imagining herself to be in Amboy’s situation is already difficult she said. She added that she is as helpless as others, but she did what she thought she could do for the person and that was to have him cleaned up.

Many accepted the challenge of Benny; however, the following day she received a message that Amboy was finally taken by a relative in Lacnog, and she was sent with photos exactly depicting what she wanted to happen to the person.

The homeless man is finally dressed, his hair was cut, and has his shelter.

True to her words, even the relative didn’t exactly call her challenge. Benny went to visit Amboy in Lacnog and also to gave the incentive to his relatives.

“[He is]Happier, mas naaliwalas jay rupa na,” she said, saying that he was even smiling.

“Panagkunak ket agimprove isuna ngay. Kitkitan mi ken manong Sammy eh, nagdakkel pinagbaliwan na,” she added.

Moreover, Amboy according to his relative can speak, and Benny described that the man seemed to understand what they were talking about during their visit.

Benny found out that Amboy no longer has parents nor siblings. The one taking care of him now is his sister-in-law.

They said Amboy was taken in by his relatives before, but he went back to the streets.
