LGUs must comply with DepEd requirements before using schools as isolation units



Tabuk City, Kalinga – Following the request of the Tabuk City Local Government Unit’s (CLGU) request to utilize school buildings to augment their needed Isolation Units, City Schools Division Dr. Irene Angway said that requests must be in compliance with the requirements of DepEd.


DepEd Tabuk is now strategizing a set-up of possible chosen schools to avoid face-to-face contact between individuals to be isolated and parents and teachers who would be coming in and out of the schools during the distribution of modules.


“While for us in DepEd, we would like our schools to be very safe for our stakeholders, if only we could refuse. However, we know naman that we really have to cooperate on all of these. Because mas malala kapag nandiyan sila, maiwar-wara da lang dita… So we are trying to see how we could also assist however are also asking them to comply with the requirements set by DepEd which is the requirement on what to prepare,” Angway said.


The request shall be forwarded to the Region and shall then be endorsed and approved by DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones.


“So nagi-inspect sila so that we could find a more suitable one. We are also suggesting na sana yung mga may extra rooms na medyo malayo sa main part of the school, ganun yung hahanapin na schools… hindi doon sa hindi malapit kung saan pupunta yung mga teachers natin at mga parents natin. Doon sana kung saan malayo,” she informed.


Request Attachments


There are certain attachments first that needed to be accomplished which include inspection documents, joint report from the Department of Health and City Health Office, certifying order from the Department of the Interior and Local Government among others.


If approved by the Secretary of Education, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) shall be prepared indicating responsibilities of the requesting party such as utility expenses and other expenses concurred within the duration of their stay.
