Tabuk City inmates allowed to cast votes for BSKE 2023



Tabuk City, Kalinga – Tabuk City District Jail accompanied three inmates to cast their votes in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections on Oct. 30, 13 years since they accompanied Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) under their watch to polling precincts.

Data from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology showed that a total of 31,125 inmates in the country participated in the October 2023 BSKE.


Of the figure, three are from Tabuk City.


According to Warden JSInsp. John Melecio, these three individuals who are currently incarcerated at the Tabuk City District Jail were allowed by the Regional Trial Court Branch 25 to exercise their right to suffrage at the Southern Tabuk Integrated School Bulanao.


He further informed that this is the first time in 13 years that the city’s district jail escorted PDLs in Tabuk to choose their political bets.

The three inmates were accompanied to their respective polling precincts at 6:30 a.m. today.
