Tabuk City, Kalinga – In a bid to control vehicular traffic accidents in Tabuk, the police in the city continuously conduct checkpoints at different areas.

From January this year to the present, the Tabuk City police have already recorded a total of 26 road accidents. Of the 32 riders involved, only eight were wearing helmets.

Chief Traffic Investigator Police Captain Florand Sim relayed that more vehicles are on the road now since schools have already reopened and movements of the people have returned to normal.

With the number of reported road crash incidents, the police see that one of the ways to control road mishaps in the city is through regular checkpoints at different places in Tabuk at any time of the day. This is to prevent traffic violators from rerouting because they are aware there is a checkpoint at a certain area.

“Instruction ng Chief of Police namin na si PLtCol. Jonathan Bagayao magka-conduct kami ng checkpoint which is one way para ma-prevent yung accidente kasi maraming incident ngayon sa VTA,” he conveyed.

Sim informed most motorists are not wearing helmets when they travel. He then appealed to the public to strictly adhere to traffic laws such as wearing of a helmet as this can save their lives on the road.
