Tabuk City, Kalinga – While waiting to be inoculated with Covid-19 vaccine, the persons deprived of liberty (PDL) in Tabuk were given flu jabs this September 15.

Tabuk District Jail Warden, Senior Inspector John Waylan Lapon, said that the regional office released 100 flu vaccines, where 75 were given to Tabuk and 25 to Alfonso Lista. Of the 75, 72 male PDLs in Tabuk while 3 females had signified their interest to avail the vaccine.

Lapon said that the inmates in Tabuk are yet to receive the Covid-19 jab. This is why the flu vaccine was rolled out to interested inmates for added protection against the virus.

“Kasla additional protection da [daytoy] ta pangpapigsa iti immune system tapnu haan da agkatrangkaso,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to the district jail warden, no PDL in Tabuk has incurred Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.

“Kaasi met ni Apo Diyos ket manipud idi nagrugi daytoy a pandemic ket awan uray maysa a PDL tayo a naakaran iti Covid,” he said.

To keep a zero Covid-19 case inside the jail, Lapon said that they are requiring them to adhere to the minimum health standards such as physical distancing and wearing of face mask even if they are already inside their cell.

He added that if someone gets cold among the PDLs, they will immediately be given medication and will be isolated should the symptom worsen.

Meanwhile, of the 45 personnel of Tabuk District Jail, 39 have already been vaccinated against Covid-19 while the remaining 6 are still waiting for their schedule.
