Tanudan crafts three-year Peace and Order and Public Safety Plan

Updated: Aug 24, 2022

Tanudan, Kalinga – Members of the Tanudan Municipal Peace and Order Council gathered to formulate Peace and Order and Public Safety Plan for 2023-2025 at the Davidson Hotel on August 17-19, 2022.

Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag through MPOC Memorandum Circular No. 3 S. 2022 called on the members to meet on the said dates to craft the 3-year term-based plan.

Tanudan Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Lucas Ating explained that the POPS Plan will serve as the guide for the Local Chief Executive in implementing activities that will address peace and order and public safety concerns in Tanudan in the coming three years.

Ating added that among the focus areas of the POPS Plan include crimes specifically index crime incidents, disaster risks, and crisis management. He added that the baseline data for the 2023-2025 plan are the incidents that transpired in 2021.

Tanudan generally peaceful

According to the MLGO Officer, Tanudan remains to be peaceful. He attributed this to the efforts of the pool of negotiators, which is composed of elders from different tribes.

This pool of negotiators, he said, was organized by Mayor Dagadag to settle disputes and conflicts in the municipality. When a case can no longer be settled through alternative dispute resolution, then that’s the only time it is elevated to the court.

Meantime, based on the 2021 data, Tanudan only documented two index crimes – one is murder and the other one is carnapping.
