Tanudan, Kalinga – Access to health-care services shall become easier for the people of Tanudan, Kalinga, as the municipality got its new doctor from the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, January 25, 2025.

The placement of a health worker in the aforementioned municipality was achieved through  the DOH's "Doctors to the Barrios" program. The project has been directing doctors to various isolated communities around the country to provide much needed services to the underserved.

In the early weeks of January this year, DOH-Cordillera announced that several newly selected doctors for the barrios are set to be assigned in different municipalities within the region.

One of those doctors, Dr. Glenda Davis-Banawag, was designated to care for the people of Tanudan. The doctor officially started her post in the town on January 20, 2025, after the local government, headed by Jhaedick Ross Dagadag, and the DOH officially signed a contract that day.

During the contract signing, Mayor Dagadag mentioned that the success of the LGU in acquiring an additional doctor is due to the combined efforts of the local health officials and the assistance from the almighty.

"All glory to God for granting our request for the Doctors to the Barrios," the mayor added, as reported by the municipality’s Human Resources for Health Office (DOH HRH).

Dagadag also guaranteed his constituents that he will continue collaborating closely with the DOH and other stakeholders to create a healthier and more equitable future for all iTanudans.

“With our new doctor, we can hope for better and improved public health services. I am certain that Dr. Davis-Banawag will help our people,” expressed the Mayor.

With the addition of a government doctor in Tanudan, it is anticipated that this shall greatly enhance healthcare access, especially in the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) of the municipality.
