Tanudan LGU awards P.1M to Hergie Bacyadan, accords warrior’s welcome

Tanudan, Kalinga – Taking pride of its very own Olympian, the Tanudan Municipal Local Government Unit gave a P100,000 cash incentive to Hergie Bacyadan.

Bacyadan was first welcomed by his own tribe in Taloctoc, Tanudan on September 6 where he was accorded with ‘tumo’ or a warrior’s welcome.

Said practice was a rite being rendered to warriors before to celebrate their successful head-hunting expedition. But to these days’ application, the rite is being given to any member of the tribe who has succeeded in a chosen field of discipline.

Three days later, on September 9, Bacyadan received a ‘Hero’s Welcome’ from the Kalinga provincial local government where he had a motorcade in Bulanao, Tabuk City, to meet his fellow iKalingas. He also received P500,000 from the PLGU.

After the short program at the Kalinga Astrodome, Bacyadan, and his family proceeded to Banagao, Poblacion on the same day to meet his fellow iTanudans.

The Officialdom of Tanudan headed by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag and Vice Mayor Constancio Dalayap awarded him a P100,000 cash incentive and a plaque of recognition for being the first athlete in Tanudan who competed in the Olympics.

Mayor Dagadag, in a message, conveyed his support to Bacyadan and wished him well in his next fights. He likewise urged the youth who are into sports to be inspired by what Bacyadan had achieved, saying that they should keep honing their skills and that they have the LGU’s support.
