Tanudan LGU says DTI-Kalinga livelihood kits changing lives of people in the municipality

Tanudan, Kalinga –Tanudan local government unit expressed their gratitude to the Department of Trade and Industry - Kalinga for the grant of livelihood starter kits to 14 micro-entrepreneurs in the municipality, saying previous beneficiaries have experienced a positive change.


The LGU said the program is changing the lives of the people by teaching them ways of augmenting their income and improving their skills and products for marketability.

The kits awarded are under the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay-Livelihood Seeding Program (NSB-LSP) of DTI-Kalinga.


During the awarding held Friday, September 23, Tanudan Mayor Jaedicke Ross Dagadag, represented by Wayne Banasan from the municipal assessor’s office, acknowledged the need of the municipality for starter kits, adding that the LGU is fortunate to have grants such as this.


“Nagasat tayo ti kastoy nga iyeg da mismo iti ditoy nga ili tayo iti pagsayaatan, isunga agyaman tayo kadagitoy taga-DTI ta ipangpangruna na daytoy ili tayo,” stressed Banasan.


The 14 beneficiaries, DTI-Kalinga said, include 4 entrepreneurs engaged in food processing, 3 for carpentry service, 2 for food service, 2 for furniture making, and 3 for the trading sector.


Accordingly, each recipient was given P8,000 worth of livelihood kits. The items given were based on their project proposal to the department.

DTI-Kalinga also distributed livelihood starter kits to 20 entrepreneurs from the 6 barangays in Tanudan in the year 2020 and 50 entrepreneurs from 10 different barangays in the year 2021.


NSB-LSP is a government program that started in the year 2020 that aimed at providing livelihood starter kits to existing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) particularly in the barangays to develop their businesses which helps in improving the economic progress of the locality.
