Tanudan marks 61st founding anniversary and 9th Kape Festival

Tanudan, Kalinga – yTanudans and visitors gathered and marked the town’s biggest celebration of culture and heritage on June 24 and 25 in Poblacion, Banagao.

 

On said dates, Tanudan, once a part of the Lubuagan district, commemorated its 61st Founding Anniversary and its formal declaration as a regular component municipality of Kalinga through Executive Order No. 42 issued by then President Diosdado Macapagal.

 

The municipality likewise celebrated its 9th Kape Festival with the theme, ‘Unity through diversity: Honoring our past, embracing our future’.

 

During the program on June 24, Vice Governor Jocel Baac highlighted his message by reiterating this year’s festivity theme, urging the people to unite for continuous progress in the municipality.

 

“Nu awan iti unity kadatayo nga komunidad, datayo nga umili, sigurado nga haan tayo nga magun-od dagiti plan-planu tayo, lalo daytoy panagprogreso daytoy ili tayo,” he said.

 

Baac together with the officials of Tanudan LGU led by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag, the guest speaker Retired Police Major General Steve Ludan, and DTI Cordillera Regional Director Juliet Lucas opened the agro-industrial fair through ribbon cutting.

 

Other events transpired on Monday include contested activities like agricultural quiz bee, search for best booths, pig restraining, native chicken weight estimation, coffee beans weight estimation, quiz bee, and the ‘Digdiga Di Tupayya’, live band, and Laga Fashion Show.

 

The following day, June 25, was marked with a parade, health and wellness drive, awarding of Mayor’s Cup 2024 winners, and a cultural show.
