Dagadag vowed more support to initiatives against illegal drugs in Tanudan as a means to avoid a relapse. Under Dagadag’s administration, several programs and projects have been implemented to protect the youth against drug addiction alongside aggressive campaigns against peddlers and rehabilitating users.

Tanudan is one of the 172 local government units in the Philippines that were acknowledged for their exemplary efforts in complementing the national government’s anti-illegal drug campaign and for attaining a perfect score during the 2021 ADAC Performance Audit.

Mayor Dagadag conveyed delight that the concerted works of the Local Government Unit, the police, barangay officials, and the communities in Tanudan were recognized by the national government.

But above the award, Dagadag reiterated that what matters most to him is the eradication of illegal drugs, emphasizing that he himself knows how this substance could destroy one’s life including the people around him or her.

“Iti importante kanyak maisardeng iti kakailyak ta ammuk iti epekto na dayta droga, epekto na iti ili, epekto na iti pamilya ta talaga nga tumaktak iti pamilya dayta. Haan na lang nga perdien iti future dagita agus-usar nu di ket pati iti pamilya da,” he stressed.

Dagadag recalled that among the actions done by the Tanudan LGU and its partners to clear the municipality of drugs is to visit the communities. He added that back in 2019, it was he and the police who talked to the users to surrender and start a new life without illegal drugs.

He also left his phone numbers to the families of the drug surrenderees and the community so they could call him should these individuals go back to their old habits.

“Na-award an tayo gapu dagitoy komunidad, barangay officials, PNP, LGU Tanudan ken daytoy kooperasyon met iti surrenderees tayo nga … idi tiyempo iti Tokhang idi ket nag-surrender da met, nagtuloy tuloy aginggana tatta nga nauray tayo nga awan metten iti droga nga mangmangngeg,” Dagadag conveyed.

Now that Tanudan was awarded for their efforts in fighting again illegal drugs, Mayor Dagadag stressed that they will work all the more against these illegal substances that destroy families and the peace and order in communities.

The mayor further emphasized that keeping one’s locality free of illegal drugs is a huge contribution to the country’s continuing fight to eliminate illegal drugs.
