Tanudan Municipal Hospital on lockdown after 4 employees tested positive of Covid-19

Tanudan, Kalinga – Only emergency cases shall be temporarily accepted at the Tanudan Municipal Hospital while on lockdown, after four of its employees tested positive with Covid-19.

Tanudan Municipal Hospital Medical Officer IV, Dr. Tatcha Kinao - Codiam said that due to said event, the hospital is under temporary lockdown as personnel are now on quarantine. She added that other personnel are also on quarantine as they wait for their swab test result.

Codiam said that they cannot identify the index case. She explained that their personnel might have caught the virus from a step-down patient endorsed by the Almora General Hospital to the Rural Health Unit, which they attended to.

But the hospital employees could have also been infected by a staff who reported for duty but showed symptoms of Covid after 2 days.

Nevertheless, the temporary lockdown shall be lifted once the swab test results of the employees arrived, most probably within 3-5 days.

Meantime, Dr. Codiam appealed to the public to follow the minimum health protocols as hospitals are getting overwhelmed with Covid cases.

“Dapat hindi kami nagma-manage ng mga moderate-to-severe cases pero dahil nga overwhelmed din ang KPH, naglabas na din sila ng advisory na close sila for Covid-19 patient kaya we are forced to manage our patient at the hospital,” she informed, adding that there is a patient positive with Rapid Antigen Test with moderate symptoms who is currently admitted at Tanudan Municipal Hospital.

“So sana makinig sila [public] sa mga health protocols at mag-follow sila kasi overwhelmed na ang mga hospital at pagod na rin ang mga health care workers,” she said.
