Tanudan, Kalinga – The officials from the Municipality of Tanudan appealed against the proposed realignment of their P40M share from the P999-M loan of the provincial government during the Sangguniang Panlalawigan session on December 6, 2022.
The Tanudan Local Government Unit was allotted a P40 million share from the said loan for the construction of the 25-bed capacity Tanudan Municipal Hospital building.
However, the provincial administration has recently proposed the realignment of the said funding which the Tanudan officials led by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag opposed.
During the said session, Dagadag brought with him Resolution No. 2022-93 which the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Constancio Dalayap passed to express the sentiments of the municipality on the proposed realignment of their share.
“Mangipakpakaasi kami nga nu anya iti makuna yu idiay, mas napinpintas sa met nu ituloy tayo diay P40 million latta nga share mi dita loan ta adda met iti lugar nga pangikabilan tayon idiay ospital,” Dagadag appealed.
Mayor Dagadag noted that the people in Tanudan, especially those barangays far from Tabuk City, have long since wished to have an improved hospital that will provide them with better health services without having to go to the city.
Earlier this year, it was found that the current site of the Tanudan Municipal Hospital in Banagao, Poblacion lies under a fault line. Hence, it was recommended for relocation.
The LGU then identified a new site for the erection of the said hospital building in Banagao. However, they are yet to secure the needed requirements and clearance for the construction of the building at the new site.
Governor James Edduba, during the session, cited this as the reason why they proposed the realignment. He said that since the money is already there and Tanudan is yet to secure clearance for the hospital, they thought of realigning the P40M to respond to the needs of another hospital in another municipality.
Edduba added that they will give Tanudan another funding once the construction of the Tanudan Municipal Hospital will be granted permission.
The governor conveyed that some health officials also proposed to move the said hospital to Mabaca, Tanudan instead.
P40M share to be kept untouched
For this reason, Mayor Dagadag asked the August body and the Provincial Governor to hold utilization of the P40M fund while they secure the clearance and certification needed in order to start the construction of the Tanudan Municipal Hospital building at its new site in Banagao.
This request was granted by Governor Edduba.
As to the concern of relocating the hospital to Mabaca, Dagadag stated that all the officials decided to retain the hospital in Upper Tanudan since they are far from Tabuk City. He mentioned that previous administrations in Tanudan also wanted to have the hospital in Banagao.
“Di bale idiay Lower Tanudan ta as-asideg met ditoy Tabuk nga pangitarayan da nu adda masakit,” he said.
