Updated: Oct 17, 2022

Tanudan, Kalinga – There were no reported damages in the Municipality of Tanudan due to Typhoon Florita as of August 24, 2022, according to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The Severe Tropical Storm Florita made landfall in Maconacon, Isabela on August 23, bringing heavy rains in Northern Luzon. The typhoon placed Kalinga under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2. Fortunately, the impact of said typhoon on the province was not as huge as in areas in Cagayan and Isabela.

According to MDRRM Officer 1 Ryan Orville Alunday, they have not monitored and haven’t received reports on any damages to infrastructures and crops in the municipality during the typhoon.

As of 5:00 PM of August 23, all major roads in Tanudan are passable.

Power outages experienced in some areas in the municipality were immediately restored.

Meantime, among the measures done by the LGU headed by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag to ensure the safety of the constituents amidst the typhoon include 24/7 activation of Operation Center, dissemination of advisories to Barangay DRRMCs, monitoring of road networks and water level, and the suspension of classes for kindergarten on August 22 and the cancellation of classes and work on August 23.
