Tanudan teacher allows pupils one-hour nap every day

Tanudan, Kalinga – Each teacher has their own teaching strategies that work on their learners just like a kinder and first grade teacher in Tanudan who adopted a practice in her class to improve learning.

Teacher Evangeline Balocnit, an educator at Tanudan Central School has been allowing her pupils to sleep in class for an hour every day after lunch.

She came up with this practice after noticing that her learners often get exhausted from their morning sessions and as a result, they have a hard time focusing on the next lessons.

To ensure her learners are comfortable, Evangeline as cited by PIA Kalinga, bought them sleeping mats and foam pads for their nap session from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

The teacher continued the practice after noting that her class was always invigorated after their nap.

According to a study, taking a nap enhances alertness by 54% and it can also enhance mental clarity and motor skills. Additionally, a study says that kids who nap 30 – 60 minutes midday at least thrice a week are happier, have more self-control, and they showcase fewer behavioral problems.
