Tawang, Balbalan is TOP 3 Best Tourism Village in Cordillera

Balbalan, Kalinga – Tawang, Balbalan has so much to offer including its mesmerizing caves, its picturesque view of nature, and its hospitable community. This was affirmed by the barangay’s feat in the recently conducted Search for Best Cordillera Tourism Village.

The Tawang Tourism Village ‘Liyang Sanctuary’ landed top 3 in the said search, winning P200,000 in cash prizes at the Baguio City Country Club on September 20, 2024.

The cash, certificate, and trophy were personally received by Mayor Almar Malannag together with Vice Mayor Rowina Damian, Punong Barangay Willie Galwat, and Municipal Tourism Officer Regine Munda Cruz.

Among the tourist destinations at the Tawang Tourism Village include the interconnected and enchanting Magangab and Maanus Caves. The village also shows a glimpse of the pre-World War II houses.

Mayor Malannag conveyed that there are a lot of things to see and experience in Balbalan, particularly for tourists.

He added the Municipal LGU is giving its hundred percent support and is giving what it can provide to the different villages what they need despite the meager funds.

“Kurang na nu maminsan ket daytoy availability iti fund ngem at least ditoy Balbalan, amin dagiti constituents ditoy 14 barangays, talaga nga napigsa iti supporta da kadakami nga LGU. So dakami met nga LGU, kayat mi met nga suportaran da suda, ta da isuda ket kaya da nga itag-ay iti bar-barangay da,” he said.
