Isabela, Philippines – Authorities reiterated their call for parents to always check on their children and monitor their whereabouts so as to ensure their safety.

The chief of Echague Police Station, PMaj Rogelio Natividad, made the remark through local media following their entrapment operation at a hotel in town that resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old teacher.

Natividad relayed that their office first received a report from the mother of a 13-year-old girl. The teen was among the students of the teacher last year.

Accordingly, the worried mom saw the conversation between her daughter and the teacher hidden by the name, “John”, single, a native of Bulacan, but is temporarily residing in Alicia, Isabela. Their exchange of messages signifies they are in a relationship.

When the teacher messaged the minor to meet with him, the mother sought the help of the police in Echague and Alicia, along with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

Through their joint operation, the teacher was caught at the hotel with the teen.

The teacher confessed he had been returning to the hotel with his 13-year-old “girlfriend” for five times now.

Meanwhile, the teen said she did not notice she was falling for her former teacher and did not know how it came to a point where she was convinced to go to the hotel with him.

The teacher, according to Natividad, will face charges for violating Section 5 of Republic Act 7610 or Child Abuse.
